Brian Fass began his career in the film industry as a Production Assistant. It wasn't long before Brian was enthralled with cinematography, his true passion. After a stint at New York University's Film School, he was so good at his craft, Brian became a Teacher's Assistant. Soon he found himself working as a camera preparatory technician at Genera Camera/Panavision New York. It was there that he learned about cinematography and had practical hands on experience with all sorts of cameras, while making connections with union camera assistants.
Soon after getting into the International Cinematograhers Guild, Brian started to work on feature union films as a camera assistant. He has worked on many feature films, television shows and sitcoms. Some of his credits as an Assistant Cameraman include, but are not limited to: Donnie Brasco, Deconstructing Harry, Everyone Says I Love You, Gloria and Spin City. Brian has been lucky enough to work alongside some great directors and DP's. They are Carlo Dipalma, David Watkin, Peter Sova, Woody Allen, Sidney Lumet, and Mike Newel.
During his career as an AC, Brian was pursuing his ultimate goal as a cinematographer. Over the years he has shot narrative, documentaries, music videos, and other various projects. Brian has managed to put together a multifaceted reel of work that can be viewed on his website. He's also been able to shoot in a wide variety of formats such as 16mm, super 16mm, digital video and HD. Brian now freelances as a cinematographer with two camrea packages: Aaton XTR-J and Panasonic DVX100. All package lists and other information can be found on this website as well.
